Active Participant vs. Casual Observer

As Realtor's we are constantly playing the game.  We are not sideline people.  We are not casual observers.  We are not cheerleaders.  We are the Players.  We are in the game.  We go crazy when we sense the chum in the waters.  Our ears and senses go ape when we are somewhere and hear someone speaking about real estate.  Especially when they are talking about needing to find an agent to sell or purchase a home.  Talk about the rush.

I liken it to my days as a active Police Officer.  You knew when that Perp was going to make a move, either to get away (which, Thank God was most cases) or the times they wanted to harm my partner or I.  In either case, The Adrenaline Rush was Unparallelled.

There is something to be said about our senses.  I think we feel more than we can consciously explain.  Your respiration increases, nostrils flair, heart starts to pump more vigorously, your lower body feels a surge of blood flow, you feel your knee's start to shake.  You spring from your position and give a card and 10-15 words that that person speaking about finding an agent will never forget!!!

But we have all felt it.  Hearing the Police Radio is a learned ability or skill.  You can have it playing in the back ground and most others (non-law enforcement) cannot decipher it.  But when they call your unit number with a hot shot or other emergency call or even if the watch commander wants you to respond to the police station, you pick it up.

For us Realtors that is how it is when we are in the Super Market in the produce section and someone on the other side of the store in the Deli section mentions the words "Real Estate".  We feel it and are able to respond to their request and BAM...  They have a card, couple of your pens, a mouse pad, a coffee mug, a 8X10 glossy auto-graphed photo and a certificate for a Tattoo with your logo...
